NUTRITION: 3 MYTHS SCRUTINIZED
We read a lot about nutrition, and following decades, the medical profession tends to change sides on a number of topics.
Journalistic bias change from summer to summer, we go to the Dukan diet fruit juice cure a number to the other, leaving many people skeptical about the recommendations to follow to be healthy.
I tend to follow a simple principle: if there are more than 5 foods included on the label, I do not buy. If there is an additive name of 8 syllables that I do not know, I do not buy either.
There are however some concepts on which I want to restore the truth, I hope it will help you on your next shopping!
1. Butter cause of cardiovascular problems
This rumor dies hard, yet in many analyzes conducted on consumers butter for 14 years have shown that on average consume regularly had no bearing on the risk of cardiovascular accident.
However, this is not the case of trans acids such as margarine, which is why we must always put butter (preferably organic & raw) at a vegetable margarine!
2. Better worth a Coca-Coca rather than Light
One might think that prefer sugar aspartame is better for our health & our weight. You should know that aspartame has a sweetness 180 times higher than the natural sugar 0 calories!
The problem ? Our bodies being addicted to sugar, aspartame causes envy sugar crises and promote weight gain!
The work of Dr. Richard Wurtman has shown that aspartame advantage stimulated appetite and had a number of extremely negative consequences on health (headaches, migraines, iron loss, joint pain ...)
So we take his red Coke if one wants, but not abused!
3. Coffee is bad for health
I often talk about my detox coffee on Twitter, but be aware that I could consume up to 8 per day, which is not a good idea.
The coffee is rich in antioxidants, polyphenols, which fight against free radicals. Studies have shown that consuming two cups of coffee per day allowed to reduce the risk of liver cancer.
Note: most of these "good consequences" also apply to tea and decaf, it seems that it is more polyphenols than caffeine that play a positive role on our health.
However, his coffee full of sugar or milk will tend to offset the positive effects mentioned above ...
